FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
The Preserve exists because people care deeply about this place and believe in its future. Every gi we receive represents trust in our mission and a shared commitment to protecting and caring for these gardens and natural lands.
We take that trust seriously, stewarding our resources with care, integrity, and transparency.
We are heartened by the strength and generosity of our community. Between 2024 and 2025, membership
and general donations grew by more than 20 percent—an encouraging sign of shared belief in the importance
of this work. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who supports the Preserve, whether through membership,
annual gis, or special contributions.
Our endowment, funded predominantly through a bequest from David Rockefeller, Sr, provides meaningful, longterm support for the Preserve, helping to cover a portion of our annual operating expenses. This enduring gi supports the ongoing care of properties also donated by Mr. Rockefeller, including the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden
and the natural lands at Little Long Pond and Hunters Cliffs. At the same time, endowment income does not fully
fund all our work. Continued philanthropic support is essential to sustain our staff expertise, visitor services, conservation efforts, and the daily care that keeps the Preserve thriving.
In addition to unrestricted revenue, the Preserve is actively stewarding $4.95 million raised in restricted funding
over the past two-year period to advance specific priorities, including trail stewardship, capital improvements, cultural landscape research, educational initiatives, and visitor infrastructure.
