Greenrock, long the quiet engine behind the Rockefeller family’s daily operations, has entered a new chapter as
the Preserve transforms the site into a modern, energy-efficient home for its administrative, facilities, and natural
lands teams. Construction, now on schedule with an anticipated move in date of June 2026, is reshaping a cluster of
aging historic buildings into bright, functional, and collaborative workspaces that honor the site’s legacy while
preparing it for the future.
New structures echo the original character of the property, and sustainability
sits at the heart of the redesign, with solar panels and high efficiency systems
expected to achieve net-zero energy
use. The project marks a major milestone for the Preserve—strengthening
operations, enhancing staff collaboration, and ensuring that this historic cornerstone of daily life on Mount Desert
Island continues to support the mission
for decades to come.
