A head-high corridor of ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) leads through a shady grove to the
intimate northeast entrance of the garden in early June. A dogwood (Cornus florida) flowers among
the ferns, soening the pale brick fortification of the north wall’s exterior.
