In summer 2025, the Preserve unveiled improved access and a revitalized trail network at Hunters Cliffs natural
lands, a striking natural landscape. Newly built trail segments weave through forest and coastal terrain, linking Day
Mountain to Hunters Cliffs and the Hunters Beach trailhead. Stone staircases guide hikers up rocky slopes toward
sweeping ocean views.
NEW PROTECTIONS
A new 12-car parking lot along Route 3 now serves these trails, replacing the former lot that forced pedestrians
across a hazardous blind curve. The old site has been closed and replanted with native trees and shrubs, allowing it to return to forest.
In May 2025, the Preserve implemented dog leash policies across our natural lands to better balance visitor enjoyment with environmental protection. These changes followed extensive study and community engagement and
aim to enhance both the visitor experience and the preservation of fragile natural resources.
