In late 2025 the Preserve, in partnership with the Maine
Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT), secured a new conservation easement protecting 168 acres of forest, cliffs,
coastal wetlands, and shoreline in the Hunters Cliffs
natural lands in Seal Harbor. This remarkable effort permanently links these lands with more than 22,000 acres
of conserved landscape on Mount Desert Island and
ensures protection of treasured trails and wildlife corridors. The Preserve will continue to steward the property, with long-term oversight from MCHT.
